Google Workspace Wednesday

Issue #172 / 30-SEP-26

Anyone can make stunning HD videos with Gemini Omni in Google Vids

If you have a Google or Google Workspace account, you can now generate high-quality videos at no cost using the latest Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash model and new creative controls. Whether you’re launching a business, rallying a community, or showcasing a product, you can use Google’s most advanced AI to create inspiring videos without professional editing skills or a big budget.

A new wave of Connected Apps is rolling out to Gemini

Bring your favorite productivity, creative, and lifestyle apps directly into Gemini. Instead of switching between tabs, you can now manage everything in one chat. To get started, connect your favorite apps in Gemini settings, or simply bring them into your chat by typing @ mention or asking directly.

Now in beta: Import and convert your PowerPoint files to client-side encrypted Slides

Eligible users can now import Microsoft PowerPoint files into Google Slides with client-side encryption (CSE). Your presentation content is encrypted on your device before reaching Google Workspace, allowing you to edit and collaborate on secure files while maintaining Microsoft Office interoperability.

Assign temporary administrator roles in the Google Admin console

Admins can now assign administrator roles to users, groups, or service accounts for a defined period of time. By eliminating standing privileges and removing the need to manually revoke temporary access, this feature strengthens security while reducing administrative overhead.
