New Gmail protections for a safer, less spammy inbox
Gmail's AI-powered defenses stop more than 99.9% of spam, phishing and malware from reaching inboxes and block nearly 15 billion unwanted emails every day. But now, nearly 20 years after Gmail launched, these threats are more complex and pressing than ever. Starting in 2024, Google will require bulk senders to authenticate their emails, allow for easy unsubscription, and stay under a reported spam threshold.
New Google Calendar appointment scheduling features
Appointment scheduling allows you to manage your availability and let customers and partners book time with you directly within Google Calendar via a personal booking page. To improve upon the current experience, Google is adding five to fourteen minute appointment slots that are customizable. Previously, the minimum duration was fifteen minutes.
The next phase of digital whiteboarding for Google Workspace
As whiteboarding tools have grown more capable, offering advanced features such as an infinite canvas, use case templates, voting, and more, Google has decided to leverage its partner ecosystem for whiteboarding in Workspace and focus on core content collaboration across Docs, Sheets, and Slides. In late 2024 Google will wind down the Jamboard whiteboarding app as well as continue with the previously planned end of support for Google Jamboard devices.
Build content quickly in Google Docs with instant access to building blocks and more
Google is introducing new buttons at the top of your Google Doc that enable you to quickly insert building blocks for different types of content, such as meeting notes, email drafts and more, directly into your document. You can simply click your preferred button or choose '@ More’ to see options like drafts for a Calendar event or a code block.
Presented content will be captured in higher definition in Google Meet recordings
For recorded meetings in Google Meet, Google is increasing the maximum resolution for shared content from 720p to 1080p. This will help ensure crisper text and visuals for presented content, creating a better viewing experience. However, the rest of the meeting capture will remain at a maximum of 720p.
